Slaying Basilisk Knights in OSRS Without Losing Your Mind (or Supplies)

The Basilisk Knight might not sound like much, but don’t let the name fool you. If you walk in unprepared, it’ll send you packing faster than you can eat a shark. If you’re planning to take on the osrs basilisk knight, a little prep goes a long way. Unless you enjoy burning through your bank for fun.

Getting There Isn’t the Hardest Part

First, you’ll need to unlock the Fremennik Slayer Dungeon. No grand entrance, no fireworks. Just a straightforward walk once you’ve got the Fremennik Exiles quest done. Make sure you’ve got a mirror shield or the Neitiznot faceguard. Without it, you’ll take constant damage, no matter how tanky you think you are; your health will vanish faster than free loot in the Grand Exchange.

Gear Up or Give Up

Basilisk Knights aren’t pushovers. They hit through prayer, and they’ve got a decent defence level. So don’t stroll in wearing your cooking cape and expect results. Melee works best. Think high-strength bonuses. Dragon Hunter Lance? Great. Abyssal Whip? Decent. Anything with decent stab damage will do the job. Bring your best melee armour, Bandos, Justiciar, or even good ol’ Barrows if you’re on a budget. For inventory, load up on food, prayer potions, and a teleport out. Sounds basic, but you’d be amazed how many people forget the tele.

Expect a Grind, Not a Breeze

Don’t let the first few kills fool you. These guys can be tanky. If you’re on a Slayer task, it’s worth it. If not, ask yourself why you’re there. The Basilisk Jaw drop is the golden ticket, but it’s rare. They’re not splashy. They’re not fast. But they’re solid money if you can stay consistent. Think of it like fishing, with a lot more blood and fewer lobsters.

Positioning Matters More Than You Think

This isn’t a free-for-all. The room gets crowded. Avoid standing too close to other players. You’ll end up attacking the wrong target or getting KO’d by accident. Stick to a spot and don’t move around like a lost tourist. Also, turn off auto-retaliate. You don’t want to attack a knight before you’re ready or when you’re sipping a brew.

Prayer Use: Smart, Not Spammy

Protect from Melee helps, but don’t burn through your entire prayer reserve in five kills. Learn the attack rhythm. Turn prayer on when needed, off when safe. Mix in defence boosts if you’ve got room. You need to stretch supplies without playing it too risky. Over time, small prayer habits make the grind more efficient and way less expensive.

Is It Worth It Long-Term?

If you’re just in it for the Slayer XP, sure, do it when you’re assigned. But farming these guys off-task just for a jaw? That’s a gamble. Some players make bank. Others leave with broken dreams and an empty coin pouch. Treat Basilisk Knights like a high-risk slot machine. Fun in doses, rewarding with luck, frustrating if you stick around too long. Just know what you’re getting into before you burn …
